Served with a statement of claim? If you were served in Ontario, a defence is generally due within 20 days. Tell us the date you were served on the intake form, and read about your deadline to respond.

Common questions about the free virtual consultation.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. There is no charge for the 30-minute virtual consultation, no taxes or other amounts are added, and there’s no obligation to retain us.
How does the 48 hours work?
The 48 hours starts when you submit a completed intake form, and it includes weekends. George Habib will contact you and offer you a consultation time within that window. If none of the times offered suit you, we’ll book the earliest time that does.
Why do you ask who else is involved?
Before we discuss your matter, we must make sure we don’t have a conflict of interest, for example because we already act for the other side. If there is a conflict, we’ll let you know and won’t hold the consultation.
Can the consultation be in Arabic?
Yes. George Habib speaks English and Arabic.
How does the video call work?
We use Google Meet. You’ll receive a link by email and can join from a computer, tablet or smartphone.
What if I need more than 30 minutes?
If your matter needs more time, we’ll explain how retaining us would work and what it would cost before any further work is done.
Does submitting the form make you my lawyer?
No. Requesting a consultation doesn’t create a lawyer–client relationship. We act for you only once a written retainer agreement is signed and the retainer is paid.
